چکیده

Cacao is an economically important crop that currently planted in Asia, Africa, and America. Cuttings a technique of vegetative propagation suitable for the conservation selected desirable characteristics cacao trees. The objective this study was to evaluate rooting cuttings mini-tunnels with different doses indole-3-butyric acid (IBA) obtain simple viable protocol. experiment carried out under completely randomized design (CRD). 5 7 cm long were collected from middle area tree crowns treated 0, 1000, 2000, 3000 ppm IBA; then they placed Jiffy© pellets set root plastic-covered fog irrigation. results indicate treatments 0 1000 IBA produced highest values survival (100%, both treatments) percentage (87.7 90.0%, respectively) as well number length roots (4.3 roots-4.21 4.5 roots-5.32 length, respectively); likewise, rooted after 24–40 days, followed by (24–46 days). All without (0 ppm) achieved 100% acclimatization nursery. In general, best obtained application (Control all parameters evaluated, similar those these success efficiency protocol proposed study.

Polyphenols in cocoa ( Theobroma cacao L . )

Polyphenols have gained much interest recently due to its antioxidant capacity and possible benefits to human health such as anti-carcinogenic, anti-atherogenic, anti-ulcer, antithrombotic, anti-inflammatory, immune modulating, anti-microbial, vasodilatory and analgesic effects. Cocoa (Theobroma cacao L.) is a rich source of polyphenols and reported having high antioxidant activity than teas an...

Intragenic antimicrobial peptides from Theobroma cacao

Background It is well known that many bioactive peptides (intragenic) are encrypted in source proteins and that they can exert their function once released by proteolytic cleavage; e.g. hypotensive, opioids and antimicrobial peptides. However, other bioactive peptides may be “stuck” on a polipeptide chain with no cleavage sites for its release. These “non-obvious” intragenic peptides are also o...

Propagation of Quercus phillyreoides by Stem Cuttings

Nature of Work: Quercus phillyreoides A. Gray (ubame oak) is an attractive, evergreen species indigenous to Japan and China. It grows as a shrub or small tree reaching a height of 6 to 9 m (20 to 30 ft) (3). Although relatively unknown in the United States, it appears Q. phillyreoides has great potential for use in landscapes in the southern United States in addition to being well suited for ur...

Foraging ecology of howler monkeys in a cacao (Theobroma cacao) plantation in Comalcalco, Mexico.

Recent evidence indicates that primate populations may persist in neotropical fragmented landscapes by using arboreal agroecosystems, which may provide temporary habitats, increased areas of vegetation, and connectivity, among other benefits. However, limited data are available on how primates are able to sustain themselves in such manmade habitats. We report the results of a 9-month-long inves...

Biodiversity and biogeography of the cacao (Theobroma cacao) pathogen Moniliophthora roreri in tropical America

Moniliophthora roreri , the cause of moniliasis or frosty pod rot, occurs on the neotropical rainforest genera Theobroma and Herrania . While this basidiomycete has had devastating effects on the cacao tree ( T. cacao ) in tropical America, where it is confined, little is known of its biogeography and intraspecific genetic variability. Here, AFLP and ISSR profiles of 94 isolates of M. roreri fr...
